On February 9, 2021, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit issued a Class Order under the Health Protection and Promotion Act requiring everyone released from the Thunder Bay District Jail to report immediately to an isolation shelter, and, among other things, submit to a forced test for COVID-19 if required.
We believe the Class Order is unconstitutional and in collaboration with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and Aboriginal Legal Services, we sent a letter to Thunder Bay’s Medical Officer of Health asking for the Class Order to be rescinded.
