The Ontario government announced that they are extending, until at least June 30, 2020, all emergency orders that have been put in place under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (Emergency Act). The government first declared a state of emergency in relation to COVID-19 on March 17, 2020, under the Emergency Act.
Under the Emergency Act, government can make orders that do such things as control movement and close down public or private places. For the full list of orders in place until at least June 30, 2020, see here. Penalties for not following the legislation include fines and jail time.
